I was born in the Bronx, New York. In 1991, when I was just 12 years old, my mother, who had been verbally and emotionally abused for so long by my father, took me and my sister to Puerto Rico. I began to live in the city of Humacao. This is where God found me. I was 13 years old. We went to a Pentecostal church called Church of Jesus Christ Mount Moriah and my pastor was Eugenio Sanchez. Here I began to learn about Jesus. During this time the Holy Spirit helped me overcome different issues in my life such as fear, loneliness, low self esteem, etc.
At the age 17 I went on my first missions trip to Nicaragua, Honduras, and Guatemala. I also worked with the leadership of the youth, and helped to develop a missions movement in the youth of Puerto Rico. It wasn’t long before I was also able to go to the Dominican Republic.
As time passed, I felt it was time to move on to bigger and greater things, so I moved to Orlando, Florida. I originally thought that it was God’s plan for me to move there for ministry, but the timing was not right so I went back home.
Due to some circumstances in my life, along with my own choices, I stopped going to church and stayed home for about 4 years, but I always had the fear of the Lord within me and knew that He wanted me back in the flock.
Later in 2005, the Lord opened the door for me to work with a Christian Record Label called “Life House Music” in Miami, Florida. I began to attend church at Doral Church Christian Worship Center in Miami.
In Febuary of 2006 I met Gediam Leon, and made a decision to get married in March of 2007. We prayed for the Holy Spirit’s guidance to where to move to since she lived in Tampa, Florida & I was 5 hours away in Miami, in addition to the fact that the Record label was going to move their offices to Atlanta, Georgia. It was a time of some real decision making. I felt in my heart that God was leading me to move to Tampa, where Gediam lived. We continued to pray and God opened another door, I got a job at a Christian Bookstore in Tampa in November 2006 and the Lord provided a place for me to live.
I began to attend Missionary Church of Tampa where Gediam had been a part of for about 10 years. I was able to build new friendships and relationships with amazing people that have made a big difference in my life. God also opened my eyes to so many new things. He opened a door for me to work with the youth, giving them discipleship classes for about 6 months. I really enjoyed teaching the young people the Word of God and facilitating the meetings.
In Spring of 2007, right after Gediam and I got married, one of our good friends introduced us to IHOP. We began to listen to Misty Edwards’ music and IHOP’s teachings. We were absolutely wowed! We felt as if our eyes had been opened into the truth of Christ Jesus. We saw Him in a way that we had never seen before.
We began to look for information on Misty Edwards. We also found the Prayer Room Web Stream which is a big part of our lives now. A year ago we thought: “These people are crazy doing 24/7 worship and prayer”. It was just amazing to us.
The first half of 2007, we really felt God’s hand moving in our lives (me and my wife). God really opened our eyes to the religious spirit and things that were happening where we congregated. We felt out of place, now that we had been exposed to freedom and the truth of Jesus Christ, our bridegroom. What was being taught went against everything the Holy Spirit was teaching us through the Word and teachings from IHOP and other amazing ministries. We began to ask the Lord for guidance and to see what He wanted from us and where He wanted us to go since both Gediam and I had a heart just to do the will of God at whatever cost. We began to have dreams and visions about us and some of our close friends making a move to Kansas City, Missouri. Very odd things were happening to us and everything pointed in that direction. We really felt God’s hand all over this. We just prayed for God to give us the go-ahead. God was letting us know that He was calling us to IHOP, KC. At this time the Holy Spirit begins to stir the gifts within us. We started to reunite together for prayer and worship. We began to learn more and more from the teachings at IHOP, your podcast, and conferences.
During the year 2007, God had spoken to me, personally, and said that Gediam and I were to move to Kansas City, Missouri to become a part of IHOP in the beginning of 2008. We prayed about our jobs and housing. God opened the door for Gediam to work from home, since she is a Web & Graphic Designer. God kept opening the doors in housing, our finances, and He continued to speak to us so precisely through dreams and visions. In addition, He had confirmed what we had to do every step of the way. We receive the blessing of our families and friends and our Pastors. It was awesome and crazy at the same time! We truly have seen God’s faithfulness throughout all of this.
I want to join staff at IHOP- KC, because I feel from the Lord that I have been called to serve the body of Christ with my Spiritual gifts, the little that I know and just me as a person – being there for others as a brother or father. God has called me to be a Watchman, in fasting, prayer, the Word and the teachings that I will get at IHOP.
I am certain that I’m walking into God’s plan for me and my life, even if I can see just a little bit of the big picture. God wants to reach the Hispanic Communities and I know God has called me to be part of the revival that is waiting to happen within the Hispanic Community. IHOP has the heart of God which is MISSIONS, and my heart just burns to do God’s will even if it’s here in the states or out in the nations. Whatever He wants from me, I’ll do and I believe this is just one step towards the awesome journey He has for us. I want to be a forerunner. I want to prepare the way of the Lord.
